UW MBA Consortium Director to Retire

Posted: February 4th, 2020

Robert ErffmeyerAfter serving the UW MBA Consortium for nearly 25 years as the program's director and advisor, Dr. Robert Erffmeyer will retire at the end of February.

Erffmeyer was a founding member of the MBA Consortium, which began by offering classes using interactive TV before shifting to a web-based platform. Dr. Al Hartman, former dean at UW Oshkosh and another founding member of the Consortium, remembers Erffmeyer's influential leadership from the beginning of the program.

"Bob was the glue of the Consortium from the beginning," said Hartman. "While many individuals deserve credit for the success of the Consortium, no one was more important to its success than Bob. He effectively managed the operations and marketing, as well as student and faculty issues."

Since coming to UW-Eau Claire 30 years ago, Erffmeyer has had a significant impact on the College of Business, those he led, and students he taught. In addition to the UW MBA Consortium, he also oversaw the UW-Eau Claire campus-based MBA Program. Between these two programs, he served as advisor to over 1,000 MBA graduates. At UW-Eau Claire, also Erffmeyer taught undergraduate marketing students and was the director of the Center for Sales and Sales Management.

As an instructor in the Consortium program, he taught foundation, core, and elective courses. He is one of three instructors to have been awarded the Outstanding Faculty award twice by students in the program.

Erffmeyer's oversight of the UW MBA Consortium has helped it become the 10th ranked online MBA program in the nation out of more than 330 programs, according to U.S. News and World Report.

"All in all, it's been a very rewarding career and a pretty great run from my perspective," Erffmeyer says. "It's now time to pass the torch to some wonderful and talented colleagues who will continue to build on our successes."
